This combination of the drug is advised to patients by Gynecologists. This drug is used for vaginal infections of mixed bacteria and fungi. CLINDAMYCIN+CLOTRIMAZOLE comes in the class of medications known as antibiotics mainly used to treat vaginal infections, caused by bacteria (bacterial vaginitis), yeast infection (candidiasis), and parasitic infections (trichomoniasis). Bacterial vaginosis happens due to the change in the normal balance of vaginal bacteria. Vaginal yeast infection or known as Candidiasis is the infection of the vagina and tissues at the opening of the vulva of the vagina. A parasite is to blame for the sexually transmitted disease trichomoniasis. The vaginal infection causes itching, odor, and voluminous white discharge from the vagina.

Clindamycin is an antibiotic drug and works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, required for bacterial survival thus preventing bacterial growth. It exhibits a bacteriostatic action that prevents bacterial growth. Clotrimazole is an imidazole antifungal medication that prevents the growth of fungi by causing damage and leakage to the fungal cell membrane. Together CLINDAMYCIN+CLOTRIMAZOLE treats vaginal infections caused by bacteria, yeast, and parasites preventing white discharge, itchiness, and inflammation in the genitourinary area. Clotrimazole belongs to the imidazole antifungal group that destroys fungi by causing holes in their cell membrane, thereby making them leak all content out. Together, they treat the infection effectively. Clindamycin witnessed a lower rate of clinical failure as compared to triple sulfonamide cream. It is more effective than hydrogen peroxide douche.
