Nimesulide 100 mg + Paracatamol 325 mg
NIMOSET-P is a combination of two well- established drugs: nimesulide and paracetamol.
Nimesulide is an NSAID. However, unlike, other NSAIDs, the chemical structure of nimesulide does not
contain a carboxylic group but a sulfonanilide moiety as the acidic group. It is an analgesic and antipyretic in
action, apart from its anti inflammatory action.
The anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic activities of Nimesulide, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory
drug (NSAID) of the sulfonanilide class, have been demonstrated in a number of experimental models and in
numerous clinical trials.
Nimesulide appears to exert its therapeutic effects through a variety of mechanisms viz :
-> Selective cyclooxygenase 2 inhibitor
-> Inhibition of generation of superoxide anions from stimulated polymorphonuclear leucocytes.
-> Inhibition of platelet activating factor synthesis
-> Prevention of Bradykinin/Cytokine induced hyperalgesia of nerves(Inhibiting release of TNF-a
-> Scavenging of hypochlorous acid
-> Blocking of histamine release
-> Prevention of cartilage damage by inhibition of metalloprotease synthesis
-> Phosphodiesterase type IV inhibition.
Paracetamol is a peripherally acting analgesic and is well absorbed orally. Paracetamol prodiaces analgesia
by elevation of the pain threshold and antipyresis through action on the hypothalamic regulating center.
Paracetamol is equal to aspirin in analgesic and antipyretic effectiveness. Nimesulide and paracetamol
combined together provide effective relief from pain and fe-,
NIMOSET-P is indicated in the treatment of minor aches and pains such as headaches, toothaches, muscular
aches, backaches, pain due to inflammation and for reduction of fever with any of the above conditions and
chronic pain such as osteoarthritis.
